I'm still here, Coen isn't yet.
Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still pregnant. I'm jumping on the tramp, possibly Thursday night. Has anyone had any experience with this though? I don't want to hurt the baby (or myself, really). And, have you known anyone that it's actually worked for? I'm just pretty much done being pregnant. It hurts and it's not fun. Except when he kicks, that's kind of cute. I went grocery shopping tonight and did dishes last night and I just ache after. I hurt. Anyway, I thought I'd post something so you don't think I've delivered and not called. By the way, who wants a call? It's on my list of things to do to make a call list. Oh, and I have a request. I know that with the blogging world it's fast and easy to post pictures and stuff but if you come see me and take pictures at the hospital I'd ask that you please refrain from posting/emailing them until we've had a chance to come home and post all about it first. (Does anyone know if St Marks has a wireless connection?) As his parents we reserve this right. I know some people will be super excited to tell all about it and show off pictures of our new cutie but that's part of our fun as parents. And, no pictures with me in them. Thank you!

A quick update...
I had a doctor's appointment today...I'm a small one and my cervix is soft. This, of course, doesn't mean A thing, but at least some progress is being made down there. No one get their hopes up and start calling me or anything! I was a one with Marshall at 3 weeks away and a 2 for the next two weeks and still had to be induced 10 days late. I still have a whole bunch of stuff to do, so I'm thinking next weekend sounds good. My next appointment is next Friday so we'll see if anything happens.

The Greatest Show (and longest day) on Earth
My friend, Heather, called last night to see if we wanted to meet up with them at Discovery Gateway for a circus parade and activities. Today we headed down there to see all the action. It was fun to see the circus elephants and clowns up close. The line was really long for the circus 'activities' at the museum so we headed inside (thanks for letting us get in with your pass, Heather!) to play while it calmed down a bit. Then we got some balloons, cotton candy, popcorn and face paint before heading home exhausted.
Maddie & Marshall
We ate lunch while we watched.
Maddie had fun in the toddler area of the museum.
Marshall didn't even want his face painted but looks happy that he changed his mind. Good thing because we waited like a half hour in line for it!
The exhausted trio at intermission.
John gave Marshall his own ticket to hold and he felt so grown up being in charge of it. He would NOT let go of his ticket until he had to go to the bathroom at intermission.
I remember my snow cone cup from the circus when I was a little girl! I used it until the paint was gone and you couldn't tell where it was from anymore. So, I bought one for Marshall. His shirt and crotch of his shorts were soaking by the time he was finished.
(A tangent:) I have to say though, I'm quite impressed with the circus concessions! They gave packets of wet wipes with every cotton candy and snow cone! I remember my mom ALWAYS having wet wipes in her purse when we were little. I just thought that was what moms carried in there. So, one fourth of July at the rodeo, I asked my Aunt Alecia for a wet wipe after my hands had gotten all sticky. And her response was, "Don't you know how to eat cotton candy without getting your hands sticky by now?! I don't have wet wipes!" (I love you, Alecia!) And yes, Alecia, by now I've mastered the task of eating cotton candy without getting sticky! But, for those who haven't, Ringling Brothers proudly presents, The Wet Wipe!

We held off getting tickets since we didn't know if I'd have the baby or not. Lucky for us we waited to buy them because his brother Josh called this morning and had free tickets for us!!! They were awesome, row 14!!! That's way better than the cheapy tickets we would have bought up in the nosebleed section, thanks Josh! We had a lot of fun! What a day.
Marshall was so tired, he fell asleep as we were looking for parking downtown and we had to wake him up

A Zillion Weeks Down, 3 To Go!!!
This was supposed to be the picture from week 36 or 9 months, which was last week, but we never got around to taking it so instead it's week 37. As you can see, I'm super big now. I've still only gained 28 pounds though and the nurse said at this point a lot of women lose a pound or two before delivery! So, I made my goal of gaining under 30! I'm not one to pat myself on the back, but I'm so proud of myself for that! With Marshall I gained 47 and I was determined not to do that this time and I did it! I may have said this on here already, but my grandpa came over on Labor Day and felt my belly (he's an OBGYN) and told me I'd have another big baby, then laughed. My friend that's a midwife also felt the baby and said he'd be at least another 8 pounder. Yikes! His head is still down, way down. I feel his butt under my err, chest on the right side, and his little feet like to kick me in the left side while his knees poke me under the left side of my chest. "So," she said, "visualize holding the baby in your arms and how big that would be." Great. At least big babies sleep better? Hopefully.
John had fun playing with the IUD model in the doctor's office while we waited for our now weekly appointment. "So that's what they look like!" he said when I told him exactly what he was looking at. He then proceded to "practice" inserting one into the model hmm hmmm. Then the doctor came in and told me I was 100%...closed! So disappointing considering the horrendous Braxton-Hicks I've been experiencing the last month and a half or so. I really thought I'd hear better news, but as he pointed out if he'd told me I was dilated I would have gotten my hopes up for an early delivery. Guess we'll just have to let nature take its course (or the trampoline!). I'm going to try to get more items checked off my list of things to do before next weekend and then try it, it's worked for a couple friends so I figured why not do a little experimenting of my own. The doctor just laughed and told John he wanted the full story if I did it. So, stay tuned, I may be posting a video clip of a pregnant whale jumping on a trampoline!
I'm starting to have more complaints. This is the un-fun part of pregnancy I remember from Marshall's. The waiting, the sleeplessness, the sore hips and butt, the swelling, the exhaustion (and knowing it will only get worse after the baby comes), but mostly the waiting. Every time my contractions are regular I get excited, then they go away. It's really nerve racking to have them all day, every day, and then to hear they aren't doing anything yet. They even hurt all the way up into my jaw and sinus sometimes! Everything is just so uncomfortable. It's not as bad as with Marshall. With him I remember feeling like my sides were going to tear apart any second and it hurt so bad. This time around it's more cramping, contractions, and 'down-there' pains. I'm also feeling really swollen. My feet are huge and achy, especially after being on them for long periods. My hands and fingers are also getting fatter and they hurt too. And, the part I hate most, the facial swelling - yuck! Falling asleep is hard because I'm usually having regular contractions by the end of the day. I found out that I can still sleep an 8 hour stretch if no one is around to wake me up though. Marshall and John went on a fathers and sons camping trip with John's dad on Friday night and I was able to sleep like a non-pregnant woman again with no one waking up crying at 5 am or John having to get out of bed for the same reason I normally would. It was lovely, restful sleep, ahhh....
Anyway, only 3 more weeks, I can do it! The end is in sight. Thank. Goodness.
And, because I have the sweetest son, here's what he said last night as I was tucking him in:
Me-"I love being your mommy."
Marsh-"I love being your boy."
Me-"Awww, thanks sweet boy."
Marsh-"Thanks sweety momma."
I just love it when he calls me that!

He said what?!
Here's a sampling of what Marshall has been saying:
During Maddie's nap this morning Marshall and I were playing robots made out of Mega Blocks. They were booming each other, of course. He said, "I have a pretend mommy. She's not mean to me like you are. She doesn't get mad at me like you do. Why do you be mean to me?"
Marshall is oh-so obsessed with Star Wars lately. He gives us all Star Wars names to go by. This morning as we were all getting ready he told John, "I'm going to cut Maddie in half with my light saber like Darth Vader." (Sorry Robyn! It got put up before he could do any harm.)
I just went in to check on him and cover him up. He stirred a little and said, "Woof, woof, woof."
Oh, the best was after his first full day of preschool last Thursday. His response to "Tell me about your day" is usually "I don't want to" or "I don't remember." So, the next day while we were eating lunch he got this devilish grin on his face and said in a low whisper voice, "Asher and I tried to steal our teacher's flashlight!" "Oh" I said, "what did she say?" "She told us that was HERS!" I told him that he shouldn't steal again because he could get sent to the principal's office and get in big trouble and that Heavenly Father doesn't like it when people steal from each other. I wonder what prompted him to do that? He does like flashlights!
Again, this morning, Marshall was playing with his light saber in the hall and dropped it. He looked at me and said, "It's okay, I'll use my force to pick it up like Darth Vader." Apparently Darth drops his in the movie and 'magically' picks it up with his 'force' by commanding it with his hand? I think the kid eats, sleeps, and breathes Star Wars. I hope it's a passing phase because I just don't get it. And, I'm SO sick of the stupid light saber! Why oh why did my mom have to indulge him on that? She drove out of her way just to get him one because he asked for it! I seem to remember hearing "no" a lot growing up. Does the combination of those two tiny letters just drop out of a grandma's vocabulary? The force is strong with him.

Back to School Time
Marshall started at a new preschool this last week. I would have loved to keep him at the U, but it was too far to drive and jumped way up in price for 3 day. So, I enrolled him at an elementary school that is closer, cheaper, and where his friend from last year is going. They'll have so much fun together this year! He goes 2 days a week in the afternoons for 3 hours. I'm excited to watch him learn and grow from interactions with his peers. You could tell he and Asher had been to school before by the way they responded to the teacher and followed directions, etc. They had more confidence and did fine at drop off. They're the big kids on campus now, so watch out!

Meeting Darth Vader
The last post is too twisted to leave up as the first post you'll see, so this one's on a happier note. Marshall is such a huge fan of Star Wars lately and takes his Light Saber just about everywhere with him. As part of their new line of Star Wars bedding, Pottery Barn Kids had a promotion where kids got to come meet the Star Wars characters down at Trolley Square this last weekend. As soon as I got the email about the promotion we headed down to PBK to get the free priority tickets because I knew Marshall would love it. We invited his friend to go with us too. They love playing Light Sabers together!
On killing my first born...
I have a question for all you second (or more) time moms...
When you were pregnant did you have wacko dreams about your oldest child dying in grotesque and morbid ways when you were pregnant with your second? I think my subconscious it telling me I'm killing my first born by having another baby! It's an awful feeling but the dreams are even worse.
This morning I couldn't get back to sleep after this nightmare: I'm driving down Highland Drive past the mall construction, we're the only car on the road and John and Marshall are in the car with me. I'm the driver, John is in the passenger seat, and Marshall is in the back behind him. We see the debris from an accident strewn all over the middle of the road for about 100 yards and I see a burned firefighter holding a hose, just burned where he was standing. I'm so busy looking around to find the car and victims that I drive right through a patch of fire that's burning in the middle of the street. Our gas tank explodes and our car is completely engulfed in flames. I get out and roll/run a few feet and I land on the ground, paralyzed by fear and I'm watching from above myself, like an out of body experience. I see John get out but he runs away too. I start yelling, "Get my baby out! Get my baby out!" (Referring to Marshall.) But I'm frozen and I can't see where John went. I want to get up and run over to his door so bad and get him out but I just can't move. Then I woke up.
So, is this normal? Has it happened to anyone else? It really left me disturbed and I couldn't fall back asleep for the longest time.

Spoiled Rotten!
Yes, I am, I am, I am...the luckiest! My friends, Melissa and Susan, took me out for a pedicure, dinner, and a movie the night after my birthday!!! We started this tradition in May for Melissa's birthday and it was so fun we decided to make it a 3 times a year deal - for all our birthdays! The pedi was perfect since I can no longer reach to paint my own toes and my OB is rumored to check to see if you have a pedi before you deliver - so now I'm prepared! Then they took me to the yummiest - Cheesecake Factory for dinner. I swear we ordered the 3 most delicious items on the menu. I had Farfalle with Chicken and Roasted Garlic, it was sooo good! They had the Bang, Bang Chicken and Shrimp and Shrimp Scampi and they were all to die for. Then we shared a White Macadamia Nut something cheesecake slice that was the special of the day. The waitress gathered up a group to sing to me, talk about super embarrassing! Then we ended the night laughing hysterically at the movie House Bunny. It was so funny! I had such a fun time. These girls really made my birthday special. Thank you so much you guys, I love you!
Susan, Me, and Melissa feeling pampered after our pedis
They're the ones at the bottom of the picture.
Also, I got my memory card situation all sorted out, so I added pictures from my actual birthday to the last post if you're interested.

I'm a Quarter-Centaurian or 2 Packs of Birthday Candles
Quarter-Centaurian: (n.) a person who is a quarter century old, or 25 and therefore requires 2 packs of birthday candles because they only come in packs of 24 (where's Steve Martin when you need him?)
John started off the day (haha, at midnight last night) by cuddling me in bed. Then this morning I woke up to breakfast in bed! All day I got lots of phone calls, texts, and messages on my blog and facebook. Thank you everyone who remembered my special day!
My mom picked Marshall up on her way home from work so they could make my cake. After Maddie left John took me out for a delicious sushi dinner at Oh Sushi (formerly Go Sushi). Then we went to see what my mom and Marshall had concocted at her house and opened presents there.
John got me Scrabble, 2 books, and the new Coldplay CD. My mom got me some much needed scrapbook page protectors, the game "Set" and she's going to get me a new outfit once the baby is born. My dad pre-ordered me the new Photoshop Elements coming out in October. I also got a lot of cards and money. Marshall made me the coolest 3D birthday card ever. They slaved over a confetti birthday cake and Marshall arranged my 25 candles by himself. I had a great day!
Marshall's card to me! I love it, love it, love it!
My mom made him a game with tiny colored circles. He used glitter glue to attach the scraps to my card. He was so proud of it and couldn't wait to give it to me. I love my little boy!
I accidentally switched memory cards in my camera and it wasn't formatted to the right one so until I figure out how to view them anyway I'm picture-less =( but I'll try to figure it out later. Any suggestions? Since I can't post pictures from tonight, and because 25 is a pretty decent milestone, I'll do a trip down memory lane for you of some other milestone birthdays.

Happy Birthday to Me!!!
Minutes old
Turning 2 right before we moved to Utah.
Look at my curls!
Look at my curls!

18 was the greatest because all my besties came to my party, including "the" boy of the moment. The picture on the right, above, was taken just as I saw him walk back.
Oh. My. Gosh. We all look so young!!!I wish I could find my 16th pictures because that's pretty monumental. I'm too embarrassed to post any from elementary. Eee Gads!
Labor Day Weekend Highlights
Friday: We were supposed to go up to Swiss Days in Heber to see my aunt's booth. We decided to stay home and missed buying one of her adorable scripture bags and now she's all sold out! Guess I'll have to wait until next year. Sorry Aunt Alecia.
Saturday: John got to watch the Utes first football game of the season with his dad up at the Bradley's. Then we headed up Millcreek with my friends, Melissa and Sage, and their families. We always have such a fun time with them. Unfortunately no one's water broke this time.
Sunday: Marshall has been having melt downs when we take him into Opening Exercises in Primary. We can't figure out why, he's always been so good about separating from us and going into nursery and sunbeams by himself. He does complain that the piano (located RIGHT in front of him) is too loud and hurts his ears. We also had about 3 people suggest that it's the pending arrival of Coen that's gotten into him. Great.
Did you notice the baby ticker thing to the right turned upside down at Week 34 on Sunday? The actual baby has been head down for a couple weeks though. Getting ready!
Sunday night was a blast! My grandma had a little get together in honor of my cousin, Chris, who just returned home from his mission in Korea and is down at BYU with his sister entering their sophomore year. I guess it wasn't really "little" after all. When you put a bunch of us Marshalls into the same room, we get really loud. Just imagine 3 generations gathered around the piano singing showtunes no one has heard in ages loud. I wish I'd had my camera to capture my Aunt Alecia playing the piano while Aunt Robin and Grandma and an occasional cousin sung "Think of Me" like it was their last chance to sing. Too bad Aunt Rebekah wasn't there to give us some real opera. And it's always great to sit and catch up with my cousins and their lives and compare book lists with my Aunt Robin. Have I told you how much I love these guys?
Monday: John and I slept in until 11 and 12, respectively, since my mom had Marshall over for a sleepover. Woohoo! It was great although we both felt like half the day was wasted. Oh well that's what sleepovers at Grammy's are for, right?
Then we got an unexpected call from my Grandpa Marshall asking if he could stop by for a visit. I think it's been well over a year since we've seen him! It was great to spend time with him and visit for a while. He spends his time between 3 residences in Georgia, Provo, and L.A. so we don't get to see him a ton. He gave me his professional opinion - that I'd have another big baby. Great. He's an OB, so he thinks he can tell people stuff like that and then laugh. Yes, he laughed! I didn't know if I should be offended or not. Oh well, that's my grandpa for you. Still, it was great to see him. Then we went to John's parents house for a delicious chicken dinner.
Let me just say, thank goodness for the rain that came and cooled things off. I don't think I've ever been so anxious for Autumn and the cool weather to get here in my life! I'm actually a little chilly right now! It feels like school should be starting and it is, just not for me. I got a little sad today knowing that I'm not going back this semester. I always love the start of a new school year. Maybe next year for my masters?
And, now I can't sleep because A) I slept in until noon and B) there were 2 uneaten hot dogs in the fridge leftover from Saturday night (I'm pregnant, what can I say?) so I'm ringing in SEPTEMBER 2ND eating hot dogs and blogging.
